Candidates for CEU/Education Director

Melissa Colburne

My professional career as a RCT started thirteen years ago and I have worked in the field during that time frame across five provinces. After graduating with honours from The Centre of Arts and Technology in Fredericton I wrote and successfully passed the CSCT Exam. I was working casually at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital during my clinical. After my clinic ended I have since moved to and lived in Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba working as an RCT in both rural and urban centres. I have amble experience with electrocardiograms, exercise stress tests, stress ECHOs, holter hook ups and scan, ambulatory blood pressure monitors, internal and external loop monitors and pacemaker interrogations.
Aside from my work in private and hospital settings in 2015 I worked with CSCT in Ottawa to revamp what is now the current CSCT national exam. I was a board member for the cardiology committee for our region in Manitoba where myself and several other RCTs were responsible for developing standards of practice for the field of electro-cardiology, guidelines that were approved and followed by the province.
I believe I would be a good fit for the position as I am reliable with over a decade of experience behind me, all which come with good references.

Hello Everyone!
How happy are we about Spring FINALLY getting here and how stoked is everyone about the AGM in PEI?! I know I am!
As you know, at this year’s AGM, we’re having a few elections… and my seat is up for grabs and I will wholeheartedly be running again.
I have been on THE CTANS Excutive Board now for 7 years now. I have loved every minute of it. I say all the time how proud I am to be a Cardiology Technologist and to be working along side some of the most intelligent and caring group of professionals. I am honoured to be a part of this Board and to be able to help the RCTs of Nova Scotia with their CEUs and Educational Inquiries. I strive to do the best I can for each one of you and each year, I try to do better than I did the previous year.
I feel that this election is quite crucial. There are a lot of big changes. We’ve done away with the Trienium. We have new forms and guideline changes and a relatively new website that we’re all still trying to get use to. I have been preparing and learning everything I can about these changes. I have joined the CEU Committee that will be overseeing these changes and I will be one the Techs that verify other province’s CEUs, so I will always be current & up to date with any CEU changes and know the Guidelines inside and out. Knowing & understanding these changes makes it easier for me to help you guys.
Regardless of the election results my proverbial door is always open, no question is ever too silly and all inquiries will be answered.
Thank you so much for your consideration and I really look forward to (hopefully) serving you in the future.
